Yamaha dominates the racetrack with wins across the board

Yamaha Racing is shining across the globe as its star riders continue to bring success in an incredible number of championships and race series both on and off road.

In MotoGP both Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo are taking the points with consistent top three finishes and breath-taking race wins. Rossi leads the world championship closely followed by Lorenzo in second position, with the Laguna Seca GP round last weekend seeing them score their sixth double podium of the season.

The 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1, developed from the dominating M1 MotoGP machine, has also been showing its winning ways. In the World Superbike Championship Ben Spies is seeing incredible success, closing the championship lead with his third double race win of the season two weeks ago at the Donington round. He now sits just 14 points behind championship leader Haga and is determined to continue his winning streak.

In the FIM World Endurance Championship, the Yamaha Austria Racing Team (YART) have taken every victory of the 2009 season, three in total and are leading the championship after another flawless victory at Albacete last weekend, riders Steve Martin, Igor Jerman and Gwen Giabbani proving to be an incredible effective team. Joining them on the podium and making it a Yamaha one-two was the Yamaha Folch Endurance Team, taking the second spot with riders David Checa, Daniel Rivas and Jose Manuel Luis Rita. 

The YZF-R1 is also dominating across Europe in national superbike championships, leading 5 of the 8 main superbike series currently active in Europe. Airwaves Yamaha riders Leon Camier and James Ellison are currently first and second respectively in the British Superbike Championship, winning 11 out of 12 races so far whilst in Germany Jorge Teuchert is also firmly on top of the table, continuing to lead in the German IDM Superbike Championship.

In the Netherlands the recent Dutch Open Superbike Championship saw R1 riders Gareth Jones, Raymond Schouten and Bob Withag complete the podium, Jones is currently leading the championship, closely followed by Schouten in second place. Further south in France Yamaha rider Sebastien Gimbert currently lies third in the French Superbike Championship and is fighting to close the 16 point gap and take the championship with 3 more rounds to come whilst the CEV Extreme Championship in Spain sees the full top four riders on board Yamahas this year: Carmelo Morales Gomez, Jose Luis Cardoso Lobo, Bernat Martinez Mas and Javier Del Amor Cueto are all making the R1 work hard for them to keep them at the top of their series.

In Eastern Europe the Czech rider Jiri Drazdk is leading the AlpeAdria Superbike Championship after keeping all competition behind him in 3 of the 5 competed rounds.

The Yamaha R-6 is also proving to be a winning machine. In the World Supersport Championship British rider Cal Crutchlow claimed his fourth win of the race season in front of his home crowd in Donington last week, extending his championship lead and taking him closer to the 2009 title. In the European Superstock 600 Championship Italian Danilo Petrucci is leading the board, followed by 4 more Yamaha riders in the top 6.

Off road in the dirt Yamaha is truly shining as well. Yamaha Red Bull De Carli rider Anthony Cairoli leads the MX1-GP Championship having taken 9 moto wins from 21 and 4 grand prix from 11 in only his first season in the 450cc class, while defending world champion David Philippaerts is currently 3rd. In the European MX2 Championship French rider Christophe Charlier is dominating. Riding for Team Gariboldi Racing he leads the championship with 304 points, 37 ahead of his closest rival.

With numerous individual race successes already achieved Yamaha Racing continues to push for the championship in every class, with World, European and National titles within reach of the incredibly talented riders and machines in the Yamaha family, wish us luck!

Met in de eerste plaats de onvergelijkbare Valentino Rossi, die het MotoGP wereldkampioenschap domineert. Ook zijn teamgenoot Jorge Lorenzo presteert uitstekend met zijn tweede plaats in het voorlopig klassement. Yamaha speelt in de MotoGP dus meer dan één sterke troef uit, zoals men kon zien na de races van vorig weekend in Laguna Seca, waar beide piloten voor de 6de keer dit seizoen het podium deelden.

Voor 2009 heeft Yamaha een YZF-R1 ontwikkeld die alle concurrentie doet verbleken. Voorzien van de meest geavanceerde technologie die rechtstreeks is afgeleid van de racingmachines, is dit dé supersportmotor bij uitstek. Ben Spies, die dit jaar voor het eerst deelneemt aan het Wereldkampioenschap Superbike, kan zijn succes zonder twijfel toeschrijven aan zijn immense talent, maar zeker ook aan de talloze kwaliteiten van de R1. Hij zette twee weken geleden in Donington een prachtige prestatie neer.

Dat de R1 uithoudingsvermogen zat heeft, bewees het Yamaha Austria Racing Team tijdens de 8H van Albacete waar zij hun derde overwinning behaalden, en waar de eveneens goed presterende Spaanse R1 van het Folch Endurance team het succes alleen maar verdubbelde. Laten we hier zeker ook de Yamaha overwinning tijdens de 32e editie van de 24U van Le Mans vermelden.
Met de grote vedetten als voorbeeld, hebben ook talrijke piloten in nationale kampioenschappen hun R1 naar de overwinning gereden. Yamaha staat aan de leiding in 5 van de 8 Superbike reeksen in Europa. Dit zegt genoeg.

Naast de R1 doet ook de YZF-R6 het uitstekend. In het Wereldkampioenschap Supersport voert de Brit Carl Crutchlow het klassement aan en die heeft net zijn 4de overwinning gevierd in Donington voor een enthousiast thuispubliek. In het Europese Superstock 600 kampioenschap staan er maar liefst 5 Yamaha piloten in de top 6 !

Aangemoedigd door duizenden fans, rijgt Yamaha de overwinningen aan elkaar op de on-road circuits, maar ook off-road doen we het zeer goed, dankzij o.a. Anthony Cairoli, de Yamaha Red Bull De Carli piloot, die 9 overwinningen haalt in 21 manches en 4 Grand Prix won met de MX1-GP. Een prima score voor deze Italiaanse MX-piloot die dit seizoen debuteert in de 450cc klasse.

Sinds meer dan 50 jaar, laat Yamaha zich inspireren door het succes op de circuits om de laatste technologieën ook op productiemoto's te kunnen toepassen, waardoor zowel de prestaties, als de kwaliteit en de duurzaamheid steeds optimaler worden. Of het nu over de nieuwe R1 gaat die in 2009 een complete metamorfose onderging of om deYZ450F, een crossbeest 'pur sang', dat de concurrenten doet beven, ... wie Yamaha zegt, zegt winnen.
